INDIA - PM UNDERSTANDS PLIGHT OF POOR: SAWAIKAR


MARGAO: South Goa MP Narendra Sawaikar on Saturday praised the BJP government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for launching new social security schemes.  He was speaking at Margao Lohia Maidan at the launch of three new schemes.The schemes were launched by the central government all over India on Saturday with the official function being held at Kolkata. The programme in Margao was organised by department of information.

“Prime Minister understands the plight of the common man. He, therefore, formulated schemes for the poor and downtrodden.  On May 26, the NDA government will be completing one year in office. We will be going to the people with the report card explaining our achievements of one year,” he said.

Benaulim MLA Caetano Silva, speaking on the occasion, said that the schemes introduced by the central government are pro-poor and, hence, all should take benefit of it.

Fisheries Minister Avertano Furtado, MLAs Vishnu Wagh, Benjamin Silva, Rajan Naik, and BJP ZP member Ulhas Teunkar shared the stage.  PM’s live speech was screened at Lohia Maidan. [NT]
