Timor – Air Timor informed the public over its involvement in promoting East
Timor to outside world. In a press statement send to the media the company
said, “Being a relatively young country, Timor-Leste still has a long way to go
in attracting the interest of people and businesses”.
“Many
key players in the tourism industry and investment are not aware or have little
information about opportunities that Timor-Leste can offer. Exposing the
country’s potential is therefore a key aspect in the country’s development
program”.
“As
part of its corporate responsibility program, Air Timor, has made available in
2015 a total 60 round-trip tickets on its flights to support Timor-Leste’s
Government initiatives to promote the country. Last week the Minister of
Foreign Affairs invited 17 delegates from ASEAN countries to visit Timor-Leste
and in June the Minister of Commerce also brought a delegation to Timor-Leste
to look at opportunities for Timor-Leste to export primary produce. The
tickets offered by Air Timor are available to any Ministry and can be used to
facilitate participants in any investment seminar and or for visiting
journalists that are interested in covering tourism potential and investment
opportunities”.
“This
program was first introduced by Air Timor in 2008 through its own marketing
program to develop tourism and this year Air Timor is directly supporting
Timor-Leste Government initiatives to encourage investment proposals and the
development of export industries”.
“Air
Timor’s, President Director, Abessy Bento, in a letter of offer addressed to
H.E. Eng. Estanislau da Silva, of Minister of State and Coordinating Minister
of Economic Affairs, stated that Air Timor would like to encourage the
government to consider organizing an investment seminar and inviting industry
delegations of approximately 10 persons each month to Timor-Leste”.
“The
Government of Timor-Leste considers this could include various groups who would
consider investment opportunities in Timor-Leste from hotel consortiums,
hospital and medical companies, construction companies, IT and communication
companies, food manufacturers, etc”.
“The
60 round trip tickets from Singapore to Dili is available for Timor-Leste’s
Government use until 31st of December 2015.”
